Nordic Ren-Gas Oy has received a funding of EUR 1.5 million from Ilkka Herlin’s investment company
Ren-Gas is a sustainable energy developer. Ren-Gas is building a decentralized clean P2X gas production and distribution network in Finland for the heavy transportation sector. Ren-Gas accelerates the cost-effective reduction of CO2 emissions in the transport and energy sectors. The planned projects will attract significant industrial investments and increase Finland’s energy self-sufficiency.
Nordic Ren-Gas Oy is a start-up company founded in July 2021 which develops and delivers a decentralized hydrogen and P2X methane production and distribution network in Finland for the heavy transportation sector. During the autumn, the company has actively progressed its first P2X gas production projects together with Finnish energy companies. Ren – Gas has received a growth funding of EUR 1.5 million from Ilkka Herlin’s investment company to support its strong growth.
Nordic Ren-Gas Oy develops and delivers hydrogen and P2X methane production projects. The company aims to achieve 300MW of production capacity for its P2X methane projects by 2030. Renewable fuels produced by Ren-Gas will reduce the use of fossil fuels in heavy transportation by approx. 250 million litres per year, corresponding to about one-fifth of fuel consumption in this sector. In addition, the waste heat generated in the P2X production process produces low-cost, carbon dioxide-free district heating, which reduces emissions in the energy sector. In total, Ren-Gas’ projects will reduce Finland’s carbon dioxide emissions by more than one million tonnes per year.
Ren-Gas will procure 1,200 MW of new domestic wind power as an energy source for its production facilities. Wind power is used to produce the so-called green hydrogen by electrolysis. The green hydrogen is then combined with carbon dioxide captured from an industrial process, thus, producing renewable gas fuel for the transportation sector. The operations of Ren-Gas’ production facilities will be optimized in the heating, electricity, and fuel sectors, which will enable low production costs and a competitive price for P2X-fuels.
